Yes, it's really a thing! Unfortunately, the notoriety of National App Day hasn't resulted in a paid day off, but give it a little time and anything is possible. The purpose of today is to encourage each of us to explore the possibilities apps afford us. Since you can't observe today's "holiday" by spending 3 and a half hours watching The Irishman in your jammies (which we wouldn't recommend anyway), we thought we'd help you see some of those possibilities. No matter your passion, with DiveIn you can unlock endless opportunities in your local community with just a few taps.

Shanti Project - San Francisco
The Pets Are Wonderful Support (PAWS) Pet Food Bank provides PAWS clients with a supplemental allotment of pet food, litter and a variety of pet supplies (e.g., toys, treats, collars, leashes, carriers/crates, etc.) every month. This basic but essential service can often mean the difference between clients meeting their own nutritional needs and sacrificing their needs to feed their animal companions, or being able to keep their pets in their lives at all. Learn more here, and become a delivery volunteer today!
Satellite Affordable Housing Associates
Each year, SAHA reaches out to the community and partners with Moms Against Poverty to collect toys for their residents aged 0-18. This year they will be collecting over 400 toys! Once collected, each toy will need to be wrapped and prepared to be delivered to the children. Swing by their office on December 15th, from 2:00 - 4:00 and help with gift wrapping. While there will be a lot to do, there will also be a festive fun environment, with music, refreshments and good cheer. Sign up here!
Project Open Hand

On December 3rd, we saw record-breaking giving across the world. In the U.S. alone, people donated over $500 million and that number is nearly quadrupled at $1.9 billion total projected online and offline donations. What isn't quantified is the countless acts of kindness and the numerous hours volunteered which ultimately helped make the day a huge success. We highlighted this and more in our recent blog post, Results from Giving Tuesday 2019.
Finding ways to give back to your community can be challenging, especially when you're trying to coordinate with your co-workers and colleagues. With the DiveIn corporate program, we make it a little easier. We'll do the heavy-lifting by coordinating with the nonprofit, scheduling with your team, and documenting the experience. If you're interested, just reply to this email with the contact info for your company's social impact or CSR manager, and we'll take it from there!
Are you super passionate about an organization and want to make sure they’re featured in our app? Just drop us a quick note at nonprofits@divein.app. We're happy to introduce ourselves, add them to our growing list of organizations, and help raise awareness about their cause in the future!
Until next time,
